Hi and welcome to our first blog post! To tell you a little about ourselves-- we are three girls in KKG at Furman University who share an apartment. Sarah, a studious and energetic junior bio major on the premed track, is passionate about Women's Soccer, LGBTQ+ rights, reading, and women's equality. Mary Wallace, or "MaWa" as we call her, is a junior psych major who prides herself in her "Type A" personality and has been a vegetarian since she was 3 years old. Samantha, or "Sam", is a junior double majoring in Music and Math. Her favorite past times are sleeping and playing with her on-campus dog, Nugget.
The girls of apartment B207 are always on the hunt for cute coffee shops to get work done off campus. A nice productive Saturday morning is always a little less depressing with a great cup of coffee or yummy pastry in hand!
First stop for the blog is Leopard Forest coffee-- a rustic bohemian coffee shop in Travelers Rest that prides itself in their uniquely roasted coffee blends. We chose this location because our fourth roommate this semester, also named Samantha, works here on Saturday mornings. When we first walked in she was very surprised and happy to see some familiar faces during her shift.
Location-wise, we were happy it was so close to our University-- only an 8 minute drive. However, it is located on a side road so it may be hard to find for those that don't already know about this shop. Sam enjoyed that there were some options for outdoor seating, because she likes to take Nugget with her whenever possible, but unfortunately the tables outside did not look like a very inviting place to work.
All of us were very pleased with the aesthetic inside the shop. It was filled with lots of neutral brown colors and plants, giving it an eclectic, semi-industrial vibe. The tables were very spacious, which worked well for seating the three of us who all like to spread out when we work. Three out of the four tables had at least two outlets in close proximity to them, which was excellent but not the best we've seen compared to other shops. The shop had continuous business, but not so much that it was ever too crowded or loud. Overall a very nice and cozy atmosphere for productivity.
We may be biased in this area, but the customer service here was great. Our roommate, Samantha, helped us with drink and recommendations and brought our drinks out to our table when they were ready. We were disappointed in the lack of variety in baked goods and other food, but they made up for it in their variety of coffee drinks.
Sarah got a Cayenne Chili Mocha and Asiago bagel. She enjoyed her bagel but her drink was more bitter than she expected. She enjoyed her drink, but she preferred Sam's when she tried a spoonful. MaWa, who is not a coffee drinker, just got a plain bagel with butter. Her bagel was not toasted very evenly, so parts of it were toastier than she would prefer. Sam was very satisfied with her food and drink. She got a Rosemary Brown Sugar Latte and plain bagel with cream cheese. Her latte was very nice, but not anything out of the ordinary, and even though she prefers to get sweet pastries at coffee shops, she was impressed with the fluffiness of her bagel.
Overall the girls liked the Leopard Forrest coffee shop and we are sure we will visit again some time. Its greatest appeal to us was the aesthetic of the interior, and we would especially recommend it to anyone who considers themselves a snob about coffee blends, as that is this shop's specialty. Join us next time when we venture to another cute coffee shop in Greenville!
